Establishment

The Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC) is one of the thirteen (13) agencies under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture with a specific mandate.

Our Vision

To become an effective minority shareholding leading edge catalytic confidencebuilding partner in attracting both foreign and local investments in the profitable developments of sustainable quality tourism in Ghana.

Our Mission

GTDC exists to provide a congenial and viable investment environment accessible to both foreign and local / development funds. Such an environment should foster the establishment of commercially successful path-finding tourism investments in the various tourism categories at each stage of the tourism system, to demonstrate the attractiveness of such investments to private capital funds.

Core Functions

GTDC was authorized by its regulations to carry out the following functions:

To promote and mobilize resources for investment in tourist undertakings and services.

To seek equity participation in joint ventures with Ghanaians as well as foreign concerns and individuals in tourist development projects.

To provide financial and technical assistance for small businesses in the tourist industry and improve the efficiency and level of their services.

To carry on any other business which may conveniently render profitable the operations of the Company or enhance the Property values or rights of the Company.

Profile of the CEO

Kwadwo Odame Antwi is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company and leads the team that has the mandate to develop Ghana’s Tourism infrastructure and also invest in the sector. Before joining the GTDC, Kwadwo Antwi was the Head of Business Development and Strategy at Ghana Union Assurance. He had previously worked on the World Bank funded Ghana Urban Transport Project in introducing needed reforms in the public transportation system in Ghana, including the implementation of the Bus Rapid Transit System, popularly known as ’Aayalolo’.

He had impressive working times with some of the biggest Media Groups in the Country and was also spent considerable working with the team at Ghana Grains Council to improve post harvest management and warehouse receipt systems. Within a couple of years of taking office at the Ghana Tourism Development Company, he has transformed the company to admirable standards noticed by all stakeholders including shareholders, industry practitioners, staff of the Company and other external stakeholders.

Mr. Antwi is a graduate of the University of Ghana Business School and GIMPA Greenhill College respectively. He is a team player and leader, endowed with persuasive leadership abilities.

Kwadwo Odame Antwi is married with five children and a lover of the Arts and Sports, especially tennis and golf.

Operations

Ghana Tourism Development Company currently manages the Assin Manso Ancestral River Site, Big Tree Tourist Site and Kwahu-Atibie Receptive Facility. GTDC is also the implementing agency for the re-development and management Akwamufie Palace Museum and the Paga Zenga Crocodile Pond under the Ghana Tourism Development Project funded by the World Bank. GTDC also has commercial services such as Vehicle Rentals, Tour Operations and Event Management. The rest include Tourist sites Management and General Hospitality & Concierge services such as provision of Hotel Accommodation, Conference and Meeting Facilities as well as Airport Transfers (Meet & Greet). These operations have recently been subsumed under the commercial services brand, See Ghana Tours. GTDC has shareholding interest in some hospitality facilities and entities in Ghana.
